Nachhaltiges StartUp revolutioniert Aloe Vera Branche

Sustainable Startup Revolutionizes Aloe Vera Industry

Nature is not only our habitat but also of essential importance for our health. We can use many of nature's gifts to maintain our vitality. The Aloe Vera plant is a truly exceptional contemporary. It has shared its beneficial properties with us humans for over 5000 years. With the beginning of global trade, it became known worldwide.

Wild Baboon's mission is to offer the highest quality Aloe Vera. Already in 2017, when the founder Nicole had the idea for her startup, she knew that something fundamental had to change in the economy. Capitalism at the expense of Mother Nature is short-sighted and has no right to exist in the future.

Young and fresh companies were needed with a perspective to make better decisions for the benefit of people, animals, and nature. A concept was needed that exemplifies and demonstrates transparency, sustainability, and social responsibility, showing that it is possible to use the economy to drive positive social change.

From these thoughts and Nicole's tireless commitment to making the vision of a sustainable world come true, the holistic concept of Wild Baboon was born. In a manifesto, the "Wild Baboon Fair Principles," the most important ecological, social, and economic principles were laid down:

Wild Baboon Fair Principles

Our principles of fair trade and social and ecological entrepreneurship.

At Wild Baboon, we pursue a holistic approach. We believe that only when everyone involved in working with or being part of our product is doing well, it will ultimately be a win for all people and our planet.

Therefore, from the very beginning, we decided to work with producers who share our idea of a different, social, and ecologically sustainable way of doing business:

1. Social and Labor Law Principles

  • Our producers treat their farm workers as equals and respect their contractually guaranteed working conditions, such as personal safety or wages.
  • The right to organize in trade unions or works councils is guaranteed.
  • Our producers foster a climate of trust by treating their employees as equals and promoting personal responsibility.
  • Any form of child labor, forced action, or discrimination is prohibited, as are conditions that could lead to them.
  • Access to drinking water and medical care must always be ensured.
  • Institutions such as IMSS - Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, which offer protection and security to Mexican employees, are supported.

2. Ecological Principles

  • We promote environmentally friendly cultivation techniques by ensuring our farmers only use natural fertilizers from Aloe Vera plant residues, in line with the circular economy, thus contributing to soil protection and biodiversity.
  • Organic cultivation is important to us, which is why we have committed to refraining from all kinds of chemical agents (pesticides, herbicides).
  • Generally, during production, care is taken to reuse as much material as possible and to avoid waste or wastewater.
  • The energy demand of the Aloe Vera farm is fully covered by solar panels from renewable sources.
  • Genetic engineering is prohibited with us, as is forest clearing for new agricultural land; instead, we prevent soil erosion and support the development of measures to counteract climate change.
  • In our value chain, we largely use recyclable materials: our bottles are made of glass, and our packaging is made of Phoeno-grass, which grows regionally and is also compostable.

3. Economic Principles

We see social responsibility as a good that goes beyond production and trade.

  • Therefore, we work with Ethikbank, which advocates for fair and ecological economic practices.
  • In addition to the intention of building an economic enterprise, we support social projects with fixed monthly payments that enable many people to live a dignified life.
  • We prefer long-term and transparent contracts with our business partners and are interested in building stable trade relationships with sustainably active players.
  • Therefore, we have chosen an organic family farm in Mexico that pays its employees above-average wages, as it rejects the exploitation of employees just as much as the exploitation of nature.
  • Through strict selection and a lean production chain, we largely keep intermediaries out of the economic cycle, ensuring that profits go to the farm, the bottler, and their employees.
  • Through active exchange and regular visits to our local partners, we ensure fair and safe working conditions and production processes.

Our vision is to help people achieve a healthy, sustainable, and balanced life with natural and high-quality Aloe Vera products and a complementary range of knowledge. This way, the connection between humans and nature is strengthened, leading to a positive development of society towards a resource-efficient, mindful, and loving future.
